There’s something to be said about the simple life in a small town. Families live along quiet streets, neighbors say hello when getting the mail or mowing their lawn, and life moves at a slow, easy pace. That’s the feeling we get working and living in Chubbuck, Idaho — our small slice of paradise tucked under Idaho foothills in southeastern Idaho.

Though our city only spans less than six miles and is often overshadowed by the much larger and well-known Pocatello, Idaho, us locals know there is a lot to love about the small town of Chubbuck.

Enjoy a Classic Meal at Tastee Treet

Step back in time to a small town drive-inn that is sure to serve up all of your nostalgic favorites. At Tastee Treet, enjoy swirled ice cream cones stacked high with your favorite flavor, or load up on Idaho’s famous fry sauce by dunking fresh, crispy fries into it! Be sure to try the space burger to get a taste of a local favorite, too. (And, good news: If the line for our local Tastee Treet is too long, check out the sister restaurant in Pocatello!)

Cool Off at Stuart Park Splash Pad

As any local will tell you, summer days in July and August can be long and hot. There’s no better way to cool down the whole family than at the Stuart Park Splash Pad. Enjoy the refreshing burst of cool water while the little ones laugh and play in this city-operated waterpark. The splash pad is open until 9 p.m., and the park has other great features, too, including lots of green spaces and plant life.

Find Something For Everyone at Portneuf Wellness Complex

Just down the road in Pocatello, the Portneuf Wellness Complex has something everyone in the whole family will enjoy. Catch a show at the amphitheatre — check out Idaho Central Credit Union’s summer musician line-up — or challenge others to a basketball or volleyball game. Outdoor enthusiasts will also enjoy mountain biking, fishing, walking, and swimming. You may no longer be in Chubbuck, but you’ll catch a glimpse of why we love this region.

Enjoy a Meal and a Show at Palace Playhouse

Also located in Pocatello, Palace Playhouse offers community theatre for locals, organized by locals. Better yet, the talent in this space is unparalleled because of the passionate people behind each masterpiece. Pocatello natives Jenna and Chad Davies are dedicated to the arts and combine gourmet dining with thoughtful performances by local actors.
